Privacy policy

We Are Saltbush (ABN 20 476 034 221) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

We handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

1. What we collect

Information you give us directly:

• Name and email address, when you join our waitlist, subscribe to updates, or contact us

• Delivery and billing address, phone number, when you place an order

• Any information you include in an enquiry or message to us

Information collected automatically when you visit our site:

• Device and browser type, operating system, and screen settings

• IP address and approximate location derived from it

• Pages viewed, time spent, and how you arrived at our site

• Cookie and pixel data (see section 5)

Information from third parties:

• If you interact with an advertisement or form on Facebook or Instagram, Meta may pass us the details you submitted in that form

• Our payment processors confirm to us whether a payment succeeded, but we do not receive or store your full card details

2. Why we collect it

We use personal information to:

• Contact you about products you have registered interest in

• Process and fulfil orders, and provide customer support

• Send you marketing emails, where you have opted in

• Understand how our site is used so we can improve it

• Measure the performance of our advertising

• Meet our legal and record-keeping obligations

We only use your information for the purposes set out above, for a directly related purpose you would reasonably expect, or where you have consented.

3. Waitlist and pre-launch

If you join a waitlist or register interest in a product that is not yet available, we will use your email address to tell you when that product launches and to send related updates about the brand.

You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send, or by emailing us. We will action unsubscribe requests promptly.

4. Marketing and the Spam Act

We only send marketing emails to people who have opted in. Every marketing email we send identifies us and includes a working unsubscribe link, as required by the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).

Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop transactional messages about an order you have placed.

5. Cookies and tracking

Our site uses cookies and similar technologies, including:

• Essential cookies that make the site function, such as remembering the contents of a cart

• Analytics cookies that tell us how the site is used in aggregate

• Advertising pixels, including the Meta pixel, which allow us to measure ad performance and show ads to people who have visited our site

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site working. You can also manage ad personalisation through your Facebook, Instagram or Google account settings.

6. Who we share it with

We share personal information only as needed to run the business, with:

• Shopify, which hosts our online store and processes order data

• Payment processors, which handle payments securely

• Email and marketing platforms, which send our emails on our behalf

• Meta Platforms, in connection with advertising and lead forms

• Delivery and logistics providers, where an order needs to be shipped

• Professional advisers or authorities, where required or authorised by law

We do not sell your personal information.

7. Overseas disclosure

Some of the providers above store or process data outside Australia, including in the United States and elsewhere. By providing your information, you acknowledge it may be handled overseas and that overseas recipients may not be subject to the Privacy Act.

We take reasonable steps to use reputable providers with appropriate data protection practices.

8. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. This includes relying on the security measures of established platforms such as Shopify rather than storing customer data ourselves.

No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law. Financial and transaction records are generally retained for seven years. If you unsubscribe and have never ordered from us, we remove your details from our marketing lists.

10. Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong or out of date. Email us at wearesaltbush@gmail.com and we will respond within a reasonable time.

We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. If we decline a request, we will tell you why.

11. Deleting your information

You can ask us to delete the personal information we hold about you. We will do so unless we are required to keep it, for example for tax or legal records relating to a purchase.

12. Children

Our site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have collected information from a minor, contact us and we will delete it.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always available on this page, and the date at the top shows when it last changed.

14. Complaints

If you think we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first at wearesaltbush@gmail.com and we will investigate.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
